Preparing for Your Move: Tips & Tricks from the Professionals

Moving can be stressful, but with the right preparation, your experience with Meticulous Removals can be seamless. Here are some expert tips to ensure a smooth move:

1. Pack Loose Items Properly

• Ensure all loose items are packed, either by our team or by you. Items small enough to fit into a large box should be boxed in advance for safe handling. This helps speed up the move, saving time and reducing costs.

2. Use Appropriate Box Sizes

• Pack heavier items like books, videos, records, and CDs in smaller boxes. Ensure all boxes are full but not bulging.
• Clearly label each box with its contents and the desired destination in your new home. Accurately labelled boxes make unpacking easier. Don’t forget to label fragile items.

3. Prepare Furniture and Breakables

• Empty shelves, desks, and tabletops of breakable items. Our movers will shrink-wrap these items, but it's best to remove fragile items in advance.
• Our crew will provide tools and can disassemble and reassemble furniture. However, if you disassemble items like beds, desks, and baby cots beforehand, it will save time.

4. Disconnect Electronics and Wall Items

• Unhook and disconnect all electronics. Remove artwork and mirrors from the walls.

5. Secure Parking for Moving Trucks

• Moving in big cities can be challenging due to traffic. If possible, secure an open space (about two car lengths) in front of your home to ensure our trucks can park close to the loading area.

6. Notify About Damaged Items

• Inform your moving crew leader of any previously damaged items. This allows us to take extra care when handling them.

7. Handling Special Items

• Our movers are not licensed to connect or disconnect gas appliances such as stoves or washing machines. Additionally, we cannot transport highly flammable items like propane tanks.
• Have someone stationed near the door of your new home to direct traffic and answer any questions from the movers.

8. Disassemble Ikea and Particleboard Furniture

• Disassemble Ikea and particleboard furniture in advance, as these items are more fragile and can be damaged during the move if not properly handled.

9. Communicate Additional Items

• Contact us in advance if there are any additional items you want us to handle that weren’t mentioned during the original estimate. This ensures we are prepared and have the necessary personnel to complete your move efficiently.

By following these tips, you can help make your move with Meticulous Removals as smooth and efficient as possible. Contact us today to schedule your move and experience a stress-free relocation.
